GRAND BAHAMA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
(Runs April through June)

  • Team names: Barcelona, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid

  • 4 teams of 18 players

  • Males / Females 13 –18 years

The Grand Bahama Soccer Club’s Champions League Female Division started in 2016. Two weeks prior to opening, the League holds a draft day, and players, family, and fans congregated to hear the announcement of the team the new players are drafted to. New players are welcomed by coach and veteran players, and given the jersey of the team, they will play. The purpose of the draft is to have balanced teams to ensure competitive games.

The Male Division began in 2018. Some of the male high school players were referees or coached in the Girls’ League but were lacking a league to play in other than their school league, so a league was formed for males 13 – 25 years called the Grand Bahama Champions League. It was a resounding success and has over 100 males in a Whatsapp chat group where they talk “everything soccer.” In that same year, a draft was held with a packed house of parents and friends took place with an opening ceremony with the Minister of Youth, Sport, and Culture as the guest speaker with other dignitaries in attendance.
